Congratulations West Gate Lodge 734!!
Our Easter Food Drive has come to a close and we have matched and exceeded our earlier efforts of 2013 with donations of non perishables and $$.
We as West Gate members have surpassed our food items gross weight by 17 Ibs. for a total of 280 Ibs of canned goods. Our generosity as Masons has again topped our earlier total by $ 65.00 cash with a respectable donation of $ 200.00 to help support those in our community who are less fortunate.
I also made a donation of 82 Ibs. of beverage can zip tops that will allow the local chapter of the Royal Canadian Legion to refurbish a recycled wheel chair that someone will surely need to improve the quality of their life.
WELL DONE WEST GATE....Our efforts have been duly accepted and will be faithful applied.
On Wednesday a large number of members and visitors descended on West Gate for the annual Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master. The work of the evening included a FC Degree that realized the advancement of Bro. Barclay to a Fellow of the Craft. Bro. Barkley's work was outstanding. It was so good the members assembled forgot protocol and broke out into loud applause. After hearing from the district chairman the District Deputy Grand Master declared that West Gate was a strong and well managed lodge which was no surprise to him.
The festivities continued at the festive board with Bro. J.W. and his lady serving a scrumptious fare that would tempt anyone. The evening wouldn't be a West Gate OV if the W.M. hadn't kept the ongoing tradition of roasting the guest of honour. R.W. Bro. Lawson was treated to a temporary change in his Scottish heritage by becoming "Irish for a day" in honour of St. Patrick's Day. A wonderful time was had by all, both Irish, Scottish, but all of us brothers in Masonry.
Bro. Dunckerley brought his vision of Masonry from England to Upper Canada during the conflict of the sevens years war and was a pioneer in the early establishment of Masonry as we know it now in Canada.

On March 12, five West Gate Lodge brethren (+ 2 members of River Park) led by W.Bro. Sammy travelled to University Lodge 496 on the occasion of their Official Visit. W. Bro. Jansons, officers, and members conferred the degree of FC on Bro. M. Stephenson, University Lodge and Toronto West's newest FC.
The banquet before the meeting was exceptional as the Lodge welcomed Toronto West DDGM R.W. Bro. Lawson.
At times it may seem difficult to find things on the Internet that have real meaning — things that take you out of the tempting narrow focus of your own existence and give you some perspective about your neighborhood, your community, and your world. This speech, delivered at Kenyon College way back in 2005, encapsulates that vision perfectly. I hope you enjoy it.
