The festivities continued at the festive board with Bro. J.W. and his lady serving a scrumptious fare that would tempt anyone. The evening wouldn't be a West Gate OV if the W.M. hadn't kept the ongoing tradition of roasting the guest of honour. R.W. Bro. Lawson was treated to a temporary change in his Scottish heritage by becoming "Irish for a day" in honour of St. Patrick's Day. A wonderful time was had by all, both Irish, Scottish, but all of us brothers in Masonry.
On Wednesday a large number of members and visitors descended on West Gate for the annual Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master. The work of the evening included a FC Degree that realized the advancement of Bro. Barclay to a Fellow of the Craft. Bro. Barkley's work was outstanding. It was so good the members assembled forgot protocol and broke out into loud applause. After hearing from the district chairman the District Deputy Grand Master declared that West Gate was a strong and well managed lodge which was no surprise to him.
