Over the past two days members of West Gate and River Park refurbished the ceiling in the banquet hall. This included removing and cleaning the tiles. Replacing the tiles where necessary. Cleaning and painting the track.  With so much help we even were able to repaint most of the white on the walls.

This is part of a multi-stage project that includes repair of the floor and walls this summer.

Thanks to everyone who donated their time and effort.  There are a few people I would like to thank in particular. Josh Furlong and Adam Hartzema came out with their dads and helped on both days.  Frank, Ken, Duane, Bobby and John kicked butt cleaning, rinsing and painting the T-bar. Bobby's scaffolding made the work quicker and easier. Larry did a fantastic job securing supplies and keeping us fed and hydrated.

By 4 PM Saturday we locked up and headed home - job done.

On behalf of the Temple Board thank you for your assistance. Your efforts assist greatly in keeping Temple costs as low as possible.

No, I'm not getting ready for a nice "Family Day" on the couch.  I went at 4 PM to donate blood at the new clinic located at the Heartland Centre on the first day of the 2013 Masonic Provincial Blood Donors Week.  One hour later I was on my way home after being treated like a king by the friendliest staff anywhere.

On Saturday, February16, West Gate's members, spouses, family and friends gathered on a snowy winter day at Woodbine Racetrack for an evening of food and fun.

This year's venue changed to Favorites Dining Room which offered spectacular views from every table. The buffet was excellent, where chefs will catered to every desire. The dining room offered all the usual amenities with televisions throughout and convenient access to betting.

A special thanks to Bro. Tom for making all the arrangements for the evening.

On Wednesday, February 13, thirty members of West Gate were joined by five visitors for the Initiation of our two newest members Bro. Griffin and Bro. Buzusko.  Our new members were very impressed with the events of the evening. It is now our task to nuture their interest with our own passion for the fraternity.

After the ritual was completed the members retired to the festive board for some fraternal fellowship. R.W. Bro. Woods presented the Grand Master's most recent address encouraging each and every member to be a leader in promoting the craft.  We are part of a very good organization that was once great.  The world needs Freemasonry more than ever.  We need to work together to ensure it is great again.

On Saturday, February 16, we will be gathering for the annual Woodbine Racetrack Night with our family and friends.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Congratulations to our two newest Master Masons, Bro. Reid and Bro. Kerins, who were Raised at January’s Regular Meeting. We look forward to your full participation and contributions within the craft.

February will be a busy month with an Emergent Meeting, Regular Meeting, Annual Woodbine Night Social and a Temple Work Party planned. Please support the Lodge by attending these events.

Our next Regular Meeting will feature a First Degree conferred by the Past Master’s of the Lodge. “Past Master’s Night” is a traditional festive evening to look forward to. Please mark your calendars so you can see that they still have the “right stuff.”
