After the meeting down in the banquet room, the members were treated to the Lodge's second annual Chili Cook-off. The bean-buccaneers served up a tantalizing selection of Chilies that varied from vegetarian, meat, and even a recipe that had it's origins from Ireland during the Tomato famine. I believe I tasted Guinness! For the second year straight our IPM took the coveted trophy home for winning the prestigious "Chili Bowl".
The February Regular Meeting was focused on education with some members of the York Rite (RAM), and Scottish Rite giving a presentation on the principals of their respective orders, their ties to Craft Masonry plus the charitable work that they organize within the community. This gave the Mason a different point of view of the concordant bodies outside the Craft. On Saturday Feb. 17 the members of West Gate participated in their very first Family Bowling Day at Streetsville Bowl in Mississauga. Seventeen people including members, their families & friends enjoyed a friendly and perhaps somewhat competitive competition of the medieval game of Keggling (Bowling). For a couple of hours we were treated to numerous games of bowling accented by a lunch of pizza, wings , potato wedges and soft drinks. A wonderful time was had by all who attended and perhaps we can convince more members and their families to attend this event in the future. The weather was amazing but the friendship and the fun we all enjoyed together was priceless. |
