![]() Looking to further your Masonic knowledge? The Sankey lectures are a great way to learn more about Masonry during the summer. This annual lecture series is named in honour of R.W. Bro. Charles A. Sankey (1905 – 2009) and is part of the partnership between the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario and Brock University. The partnership established between the Grand Lodge and Brock University, St. Catharines, has proven most productive and mutually beneficial to both educational institutions. Its beginning was with the initiative of the Heritage Lodge No. 730 to support and maintain the Masonic collection in the James A. Gibson Library, and continuing with the posting on line of the Proceedings of Grand Lodge from 1855 to 2010. Dr. Sankey served as Chancellor of Brock University from 1969 to 1974. A renowned Masonic scholar, he was active in all the concordant bodies of Masonry including the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, the Royal Order of Scotland, and Royal Arch Masons. His extensive collection of rare Masonic books and papers is in the Special Collections of the James Gibson Library at Brock, providing a rich resource for research scholars and students.the Masonic collection in the James A. Congratulations to West Gate's new Worshipful Master and the team of Officers for the coming year! On June 8, 2016 West Gate Lodge saw W. Bro. Bugley ascend to the chair of King Solomon. The W.M. had many family members join him who had traveled long distances to attend this auspicious occasion. His cousin, W Bro. Breckwith, from Nova Scotia was honoured to partake of the ceremony to Install his cousin. Other distinguished Masons in attendance were R.W. Bro. Spoletini, DDGM of Toronto West District, M.W. Bro. Groshaw, PGM and M.W. Bro. Petrisor, PGM. A splendid banquet will go down in lodge history as another noteworthy and memorable event. The forethought and sheer effort was evident down to the smallest of details. The new WM, Jaime and their helpers transformed the hall into the classy venue packed by the gentlemen who came together to celebrate such a memorable occasion. Nice addition to the stage! West Gate shone as the banquet entertainment achieved new heights. Agent 007(34).... you have a licence to rule us for the ensuing twelve months. Best of luck to the new slate of officers for the coming year. Actually, luck has nothing to do with it. Commitment and effort are all that is really needed. Where these values are in abundance success can only result. Also notable during the evening as W. Bro. Mistry who was greeted as our newest member affiliating from his home lodge in Zambia. Thanks to the many visitors, members and guests who assisted throughout the evening making for a memorable occasion. Check out the pictures if you didn't make it and mark June 14, 2017 on the calendar when we do it all over again! |
