Rusty Mason Night

9/27/2013

Our first regular meeting was well attended by 37 members and 13 visitors.

it was great to be joined by the Worshipful Master's and members of Chinguacousy and Peel Lodges.  Fraternal visits make masonry more enjoyable.  West Gate will be reciprocating soon.

The Rusty Mason Program that was very well received.  It included and ambitious agenda of education in each degree.  Thanks the members who helped organize and deliver the material.

Bro. Durst presented and engaged the members in a brief discussion on the wages of a mason and several other topics of interest to the members.  Great job brothers.  We all look forward to more of this engaging form of education.

Bro. Vieira did a fine job as the candidate for the evening. He was well prepared and it showed.  We are very impressed with your enthusiasm and are happy to call you or brother.

Bro. Junior Warden's first banquet was enjoyed by all.  The members were very happy to see the preparation and effort you made to make the festive board so enjoyable.  The coming year is looking good and we are going to be eating well!

Lessons in Leadership: What is Leadership?

9/12/2013

In 2013-2014 the Master has adopted the theme of masonic leadership.  Here is a brief video from Tom Peters with his definition of what makes a truly great leader.

TEN REASONS TO BECOME A MASON

9/12/2013

 1. Masonry is a place where you can confidently trust every person, and entrust your family with them.

2. Masonry is a place where, within moral and civil guidelines; free thought, free speaking and the spiritual growth of man can grow into its fullest potential.

3. Masonry is a place which provides the opportunity to meet, know, and call brother, outstanding individuals from all walks of life that I would not otherwise have met.

4. Masonry is a place to be a part of an organization that has for its principle tenets ---Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.

5. Masonry is a place that provides self-development opportunities, leadership training and experience, and to improve public
speaking skills.

6. Masonry is a place you can go to give support as well as seek it.

7. Masonry is a place where moral virtues are taught and through these teachings a regular reinforcement of the moral virtues is experienced.

8. Masonry is a place to spend time with a group of brothers, who, by acting as good men, make me want to become a better man. Not better than others, but better than I would otherwise have been.

9. Masonry is a place to become better prepared to serve the community.

10. Masonry is a place to meet with established members of the community and to become a part of the community.
