Black night behind the tamarisks -- the owls begin their chorus --
As the conches from the temple scream and bray.
With the fruitless years behind us, and the hopeless years before us,
Let us honor, O my brother, Christmas Day!
Call a truce, then, to our labors -- let us feast with friends and neighbors,
Christmas In India by Rudyard Kipling
Last night West Gate met for its annual Christmas Social at the December Regular Meeting. The food was exceptional and plentiful. Great job by the Furlongs organizing such a wonderful gathering.
On Saturday twenty children, parents and grandparents converged on the River Park Masonic Temple to attend West Gate Lodge's annual Children's Christmas party. Activities included cultural holiday traditions including a Spanish Piñata, Christmas ornament races, Ginger Bread Man building and a special visit from Santa's Granddaughter herself "Snegurochka" the Snow Maiden who helps Santa deliver gifts to good Russian children at Christmas.
Pizza, Hotdogs, cookies and everything yummy for the young or the young at heart could possibly enjoy during this festive time of year was available. Then near the end of the party the man himself made an appearance to the joy and delight of all. Santa came and delivered his gifts to all the good children who came to see him. His last words to everyone before he departed for parts unknown was "Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year."
