The Christmas/Holiday Season is almost here! At this time of the year, I always find myself reminiscing about the time with family and friends. I am truly blessed with a wonderful and loving family. I also have the good fortune of having brothers among Masons. Each of you has played an important part in my Masonic journey. I truly am humbled to have your support and friendship over the last 13 years as a Mason.
It seems like yesterday that my year as the Worshipful Master of West Gate Lodge No. 734 started in June. Almost half of the Masonic year has gone by in a flash! They say as you get older that time goes by even faster. This is certainly the case here. I hope to continue to provide a Masonic program that remains true to our history and adaptable to today’s modern way of life. Each of us has busy lives, with family and work commitments it seems there is not a lot of time left for Masonry. Each of us experiences Masonry from his own viewpoint. In my opinion Masonry gives us the tools and framework to become better husbands, fathers and members of our society. The time we give to Masonry is a personal choice. I have often heard the term of “Work, Life Balance”. As Masons we are fond of the number three. Therefore I would say “Work, Life, and Masonry Balance”. I encourage members of West Gate Lodge to attend our G. P. and Regular Lodge meetings. Not only do we learn more about what Masonry has to offer us, but we enjoy the fraternal friendships that we have established along our Masonic journey.
I have come to realize as Masons – we learn about the principles and tenets of Masonry – we work to understand them – we
apply them to our daily lives.
May the G.A.O.T.U. bless you and your family.
From my family to yours, I wish you “Happy Holidays”and a “Very Merry Christmas” and a “Happy, Healthy,
Prosperous New Year”!
Sincerely & Fraternally,
W. Bro. Gordon Tom
